O "verdadeiro" tricô é, de fato, o processo de fazer um tecido de malhas, contínuo, a partir de um determinado pedaço de fio e duas agulhas sem orifício.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Consta que tecidos das antigas culturas peruanas de cerca de 900 a.C. a 600 a.C. foram feitos à mão, assim como algumas meias para sandálias coptas do século IV a.C., encontradas em uma tumba egípcia. Todavia, embora esses tecidos tenham a aparência de malha, um exame mais apurado mostra que não são feitos com um pedaço de fio contínuo, mas sim com pedaços separados de linha, unidos com alças, com uma agulha de costura.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><b>As primeiras peças de tricô</b></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">As peças mais antigas de tricô de que se tem conhecimento foram descobertas na Arábia e remontam ao séc. VII d.C. O trabalho é muito sofisticado e as suas cores lembram os padrões de tapetes e azulejos da época.
